WHY USE A CATTERY
Choosing a Cattery? .... and looking at other options such as home-based pet feeding services
At Apple Blossom Cattery we appreciate that you have a number of options available to you to look after your cat(s) when you are away from home from time to time.
You have a choice of Catteries; we hope that you will choose us as we strive to be the best we possibly can be in terms of facilities, service and level of care – anyone can look after a cat, only cat lovers who are professionally trained and genuinely care do it well.
These days some people choose to ask a neighbour or friend to look after their cats as an alternative, whilst this is an option it may not be the best for your loved ones.
Apple Blossom Cattery is licensed and insured, we are inspected by Vale of Glamorgan Animal Welfare team on an annual basis and registered with Shepherds the Vets to provide a 24-hour service and we also have our own Isolation Facilities on site.
Apple Blossom Cattery is a brand new state of the art, purpose built safe environment. Your cat will be safe and waiting for you when you return.
We feed a wide and varied diet using top brands and fresh ingredients for a balanced diet and fresh UV filtered spring water from our own spring, we carefully record and monitor eating habits, their demeanor and their toilet habits regularly to ensure early detection of anything untoward, this is just not possible from a cat sitting service who just pop in to check and feed your loved ones occasionally when you are away.
If your household is usually busy and loud then suddenly is empty other than the odd visit from a cat sitter, this emptiness, quiet and change of routine within the context of their familiar environment can make a cat feel very anxious and confused.
Sadly, despite licensing conditions, the standard of Catteries varies enormously these days, so please do your homework before deciding where to place your cat. Don't be tempted to choose the cheapest option, as price often indicates the level of care provided.
Good Catteries allow you to pay them a visit before your cat is boarded there; you will be able to check out the facilities, amount of space, condition and staff to decide whether it's the right place for your pet. Ask questions and discuss anything that might be bothering you. If your cat is on medication or would prefer to be boarded with other cats from your household - it is worth finding out what your options are.
When it comes to finding the right cattery, choose somewhere you get a good feeling about. Is it clean and light, with sufficient ventilation? Is the temperature right? Do the staff seem friendly, flexible, understanding and knowledgeable? Is there enough space for your cat to move comfortably? Do the other cats in the facility look happy and well cared for?
Likewise, find out what the cattery is going to feed your cat and, if possible, bring along your regular food so that your cat doesn't have to adjust to a new diet too. The stress of a feed change added to new environments, faces and routines can trigger stomach upsets, so providing your cat's usual diet is definitely worthwhile.
Many people tend to think of cats as low-maintenance substitutes for dogs, but this isn't true. Cats require just as much care and attention especially when it comes to taking a break and changing routines, so suitable provisions must be made for them.
When your cat is with us at Apple Blossom Cattery you can be sure it will have plenty of attention, be loved and cared for and that there will be no nasty surprises waiting for you upon your return.
Rest assured your loved ones are in good hands – but don’t take our word for it – please come and check us out.
